The new model of Olympus digital camera is Mju -1040. Offered now in four contemporary colours - Mirror (silver), Phantom (black), Hot Chilli (red) and Melon (Yellow). Combining powerful features in a completely redesigned super-slim metal body, the Olympus [mju] 1040 is an extremely elegant performer. The 10 megapixel ultra-compact digital camera with 16.5mm in depth and it combines a precision 3x zoom (38-114mm) with cutting-edge features such as Advanced Face Detection and red-eye removal.
The Mju 1040 is equipped with Olympus's latest TruePic III image processor developed for the demanding performance of digital SLR cameras. Pressing the Function button allows users to select between Program AE (which lets you adjust the white balance, ISO, drive, metering pattern, resolution and quality settings) and the iAuto mode.
In the Intelligent Automode feature, the camera will automatically analyze each scene and select the most appropriate scene mode setting. Five options are included in this facility: Portrait, Landscape, Night Scene, Macro and Sports - which should cover most situations for the target market. No adjustments can be made because it does the thinking for you.
Face Detect and Shadow Adjust technology enables the camera to tracks up to 16 faces within the frame and adjust focus and exposure accordingly. The system is designed to cope with backlighting, such as you would find when shooting outdoors or with a window behind the subject.
The Mju 1040 also includes a Smile Shot scene mode, which automatically detects when a subject is smiling and fires off three shots in quick succession. Through this, you can never miss a perfect smile especially in capturing young children due to hard-to-predict their smiles.
